Moonlight Shadow 《月光之影》　據(jù)說，這首1983年問世的曲子原是為紀念甲殼蟲樂隊（The Beatles）被槍殺的主唱約翰·列儂（John Lennon）而作。 1980年12月8日，馬克·查普曼偽裝成一個歌迷，在列儂的公寓旁邊徘徊了很久。那天晚上，當列儂從錄音棚返回家中的時候，查普曼請列儂在他的簽字本上簽名。當時他內(nèi)心曾進行過激烈的斗爭，但最后仍然舉起手槍朝著列儂的后背連開了5槍。 和Moonlight Shadow中所寫的“He was shot six times by a man on the run”類似。 但看了原版的MTV之后，這首歌應(yīng)該和John Lennon的被刺并沒有直接聯(lián)系，似乎男主角死于一場決斗中，這倒象是普希金，但不知道普希金的妻子娜達麗亞會不會這樣來懷念他。

這首歌的歌詞曾經(jīng)一直被認為是指約翰·列儂的謀殺案的，然而歌曲中的事件和列儂謀殺案并無關(guān)系。列儂是在晚11點前被射四槍，而歌曲中的時間是凌晨四點，且槍擊數(shù)為六。在1995年的一次采訪中，當被問及《Moonlight Shadow》是否是指代約翰·列儂謀殺案時，歐菲爾德回應(yīng)道：
“并非如此……當然，當我回顧的時候，也許是吧。其實我是在他被槍殺的那個可怕的晚上到達紐約的，我住在維京唱片在佩里街的房子，那兒里事發(fā)的從達科他大廈僅有幾條街的路，所以它可能深埋于我的潛意識當中了。它最初靈感來自于我喜愛的電影——托尼·柯蒂斯主演的《胡迪尼》，這是通過靈媒聯(lián)絡(luò)死去的胡迪尼……歌曲原來的影響本該如此，而這其他影響卻是我未曾想到的。”
