錢塘潮在農(nóng)歷每月初一至初三、十五至十八出現(xiàn)，而農(nóng)歷八月十八因潮水最為壯觀成為最佳的錢江潮觀潮日子。距離農(nóng)歷八月十八還有兩天，人們已經(jīng)迫不及待地涌向錢塘江畔，去觀賞壯觀的錢塘江大潮。

錢塘江大潮介紹：

The Qiantang River (also known as the Qian River) is a southeast Chinese river that originates in the borders of Anhui and Jiangxi provinces and passes through Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, before flowing into the East China Sea through Hangzhou Bay.
錢塘江又被稱作錢江，是中國東南部的一條河流，發(fā)源于安徽和江西兩省交界處，流經(jīng)浙江省省會杭州，經(jīng)杭州灣匯入東海。

The river and bay are known for the world's largest tidal bore, which is up to 9 metres (30 ft) high, and travels at up to 40 km per hour (25 miles an hour). The tide rushing into the river from the bay causes a bore usually from 5 to 15 ft (1.5–4.6 m) high, which sweeps past Hangzhou and menaces shipping in the harbor. Despite warning signs erected along the Qiantang River banks, a number of tragic accidents happen each year.
錢塘江和杭州灣以“世界上最大的潮涌”而聞名于世。潮涌最大時可達9米高，流速每小時40公里。潮水自杭州灣倒灌入錢塘江，形成1.5-4.6米高的潮頭，橫掃杭州附近的水域，并威脅到港口內(nèi)的船只。盡管在錢塘江兩岸都設(shè)置了警告標志，每年觀潮季節(jié)仍有不少悲劇事故發(fā)生。
